West Ham United has officially announced the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United. The London-born defender, who completed the move for a reported ยฃ15 million ($19.2 million), expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Hammers.
“It was an easy decision for me to join West Ham,” Wan-Bissaka said. “I’m thrilled and grateful to be here. Itโs an amazing feeling to return to London, a city that has always been a significant part of my life. To play here again means a lot to me, and Iโm looking forward to the future. Iโve received such a warm welcome, and Iโm ready to give my all for the club.”
West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, also shared his excitement about the new signing, emphasizing Wan-Bissaka’s valuable experience in the Premier League.
“We’re delighted to have secured Aaron’s signing,” Steidten said. “He fits perfectly with the type of player we want at this club during the prime years of his career. Aaron is an incredibly skilled defender, especially strong in one-on-one situations, and his versatility is a major asset. With over 170 Premier League appearances under his belt, he has a deep understanding of the league.”
Sources revealed that Wan-Bissaka’s departure from Manchester United could pave the way for the arrivals of Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich. United reportedly agreed to sign the pair for a combined fee of ยฃ60 million ($76.7 million), including add-ons.
Wan-Bissaka was notably absent from Manchester United’s squad during their Community Shield defeat to Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday. The club had valued him between ยฃ15-20 million, with Galatasaray also showing interest in the defender.
