Giant’s Legend Lawrence Taylor Arrested Again on Sex Offender-Related Charge in Florida

Lawrence Taylor, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, handed himself into a Florida prison on Wednesday and was charged with sex offenses stemming from an incident earlier this month, according to court documents.

Taylor was charged with sex offender failure to comply with the law, a third-degree crime, after an incident in Broward County on July 2.

Taylor’s legal troubles have been known. The 65-year-old former New York Giants standout linebacker was freed from prison early Thursday.

“My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to the recent charges,” said Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh. “As in the earlier instance involving the identical charges, Mr. Taylor did not intend to conduct any criminal violation.

“This case involves a huge misunderstanding. We are convinced that after the prosecutors evaluate the exculpatory evidence proving Mr. Taylor’s innocence, he will again get a positive decision.”

The accusation arises from allegedly neglecting to disclose a name or address change.

According to the New York Post, in 2011, Taylor admitted to engaging in sexual misconduct and supporting a prostitute after allegations of having an affair with a girl who was 16 years old. Taylor said that at the time, the girl informed him that she was 19.

In 2021, Taylor also faced charges related to this case, this time for failing to disclose a change of residence. His counsel at the time referred to it as a “mix-up.” He pleaded no guilty to “residency restriction for persons convicted of certain sex offenses,” according to the report.

What ended Lawrence Taylor’s career?

Lawrence Taylor sacked Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann in November 1985, severely damaging his leg and terminating his career. The play would be remembered as one of the most devastating injuries in sports history.

How many sacks did Lawrence Taylor have?

Taylor has 132.5 QB sacks (not counting the 9.5 sacks he had in 1981, since the sack was not an official NFL statistic until 1982), 1,088 tackles, 33 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries, and nine interceptions throughout his career.

What does Lawrence Taylor do now?

Taylor continues to keep a close watch on his previous franchise even if golf is his current preoccupation. The Giants finished 6-11 last season after finishing 9-7-1 and won a playoff game in 2022.
