Jordan Addison, a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, was detained Friday near Los Angeles International Airport on suspicion of driving under the influence, the California Highway Patrol stated Sunday night.
A police complaint states that an officer from West Los Angeles discovered a white Rolls Royce obstructing a lane of traffic on I-105 from the westbound direction to the northbound Sepulveda Boulevard. The driver, subsequently identified as Addison, fell asleep behind the wheel, according to the investigation. At 11:36 p.m. PT, Addison was arrested as part of a DUI investigation. He was freed from prison on Saturday at 1:36 a.m.
Addison’s blood alcohol concentration has not been made public by police. The state of California has set a limit of 0.08.
“We are aware of Jordan Addison’s arrest on Friday and are gathering additional information about the incident,” the Vikings stated in a statement.
Addison completed his last collegiate season at USC in 2022. He was in Los Angeles last week for the debut of Netflix’s “Receiver,” starring Vikings colleague Justin Jefferson.
It’s Addison’s second driving-related issue since the Vikings drafted him at No. 23 in 2023. In July 2023, he was ticketed for driving 140 mph on a Minnesota expressway. He agreed to plead guilty to a minor speeding offense and have the reckless driving allegation erased. He paid $686 in penalties.
His arrest on DUI charges occurred five days after Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson and two others were murdered in a Maryland automobile accident. The Maryland State Police said detectives think alcohol was involved, but no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
Wes Phillips, the Vikings’ offensive coordinator, was stopped on a Minnesota expressway in December, and his blood alcohol level was 0.10. Phillips pled guilty to an amended charge of misdemeanor reckless driving and paid a $378 fine. In response, the Vikings imposed a three-week unpaid suspension, which Phillips completed this spring.
