On December 24, 1992, Adams was born to Pamela Brown and Douglas Adams. He has one brother and two sisters. Adams grew up in East Palo Alto, California, and went to Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto. As a senior two-way starter for the Vikings football team, he guided them to a CIF state title. He had 64 catches for 1,094 yards and 12 touchdowns, while as a cornerback on defense, he had 44 tackles, two for a loss, two forced fumbles, one interception, and four passes defended.

He also played basketball and was rated as a two-star prospect in that sport. As a senior, he averaged 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. He was recruited by Fresno State, California, Hawaii, and San Diego State. Adams has committed to play collegiate football at Fresno State.
