Chiefs Visit White House to Celebrate Super Bowl Win: Biden Dons Kansas City Helmet

President Joe Biden regarded the Kansas City Chiefs’ return to the White House on Friday as an omen for his forthcoming re-election campaign, as they were celebrated as Super Bowl winners for the second year in a row.

Biden pointed out that the Chiefs were the NFL’s first repeat winners in 20 years. He hesitated before saying, “Back to back.” “I like that.”

The chiefs seemed at ease on a beautiful, pleasant day. They arrived at the event on the South Lawn via two staircases from the White House, with wide receiver Rashee Rice leading one of the lines.

Several participants, including Rice, posed for photographs at the podium in the White House briefing room.

In a short interview following the ceremony, Patrick Mahomes said his favorite part of this year’s trip was presenting the White House to teammates who did not attend last year’s visit.

“I think it was cool that you kind of knew what to expect,” Mahomes said. “I’m displaying other guys’ pictures on the wall.” I’m displaying paintings, vintage furniture, and everything. It’s pretty wonderful, and I feel like I tried to be a tour guide at one time, so it’s great for that. And then to be on stage and just look out and see the Washington Monument and all these various things is a very great experience. I would appreciate it.

“Hopefully we’ll get to come back again. ”I’ll appreciate it every time.”

Perhaps remembering last year’s event when tight end Travis Kelce made a pretend effort to steal the microphone, Biden first joked that Kelce wouldn’t be asked to speak.

“I would have Travis up here, but I’m not sure what he would say,” Biden added.

But then he summoned Kelce to the microphone.

“My fellow Americans, it’s good to see you all again,” Kelce remarked. He then withdrew, claiming he had been informed he would be shocked with a taser if he remained still.

During the event, Biden noted the tragedy that occurred during the Super Bowl title parade in February, as well as the role that many players and coaches played in calming down supporters.

“I’m so proud of those guys that stepped up in that way,” coach Andy Reid said afterward. “The players did not panic, and then they grabbed all of the screaming small kids and sort of nursed them and helped them calm down. That is significant in the midst of turmoil.

“The whole city rallied behind it, which is a nice thing. It did not matter. You put everything aside, even your opinions, but everyone came together to help the victims’ families, and you can’t ask for more than that.”

Reid and chairman Clark Hunt finished the event by giving Biden a helmet, which he placed on his head to the shouts of Chiefs players.

“We got the royal treatment and a nice tour,” Reid said. “I’m not sure how many presidents have tried on your team helmets. This might be a first; thus, history is being created.”
