Report: Lions’ Dan Campbell Allegedly Doxxed by Daughter’s Classmate

According to a report by The Detroit News, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell’s home address was leaked on social media earlier this year by one of his daughter’s classmates. This incident led to several instances of harassment and unwanted visitors, eventually pushing Campbell to sell his home.

The report, based on police documents obtained by the publication, revealed that multiple individuals showed up at Campbell’s Bloomfield Township residence on the night of January 28. This occurred just hours after the Lions’ defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

The report states that a Lions security official contacted Bloomfield Township police the same night, alerting them that Dan Campbell’s home address had been shared online. Upon investigation by local authorities and NFL security, it was discovered that a male high school classmate of Campbell’s daughter had posted the address on Snapchat, accompanied by the text, “Dumb f— trying to go for it.”

At the time, Campbell and his wife, Holly, were still in the Bay Area. Concerned for their daughter’s safety, the couple grew anxious when several vehicles and people appeared outside their Michigan residence. Their daughter was home that night with her boyfriend, who responded by going outside and flashing his headlights at any approaching individuals, causing them to turn away and leave.

The Campbells soon instructed their daughter to leave the house with her boyfriend for safety. According to the report, police kept a watchful eye on the residence over the next several days.

By January 29, investigators had identified and questioned the classmate responsible for the Snapchat post. He admitted that he and his friends were upset by the Lions’ loss to the 49ers and thought the post was “funny.” The group even drove to the Campbells’ home, parked on the street, and shouted inappropriate comments at the house before eventually leaving, as detailed in the report.

A police investigator informed Holly Campbell that the incident did not meet the criteria for pressing criminal charges against the classmate.

According to the report, the investigator noted, “Holly’s only concern is that their address is now public, and she fears that in the next season, people may exploit the situation when her husband is out of town.”

Earlier this year, the Campbells relocated to an undisclosed location, and, according to The Detroit News, have experienced no further harassment since the move. Their 7,800-square-foot home in Bloomfield Township was listed for $4.5 million last week, with a deal pending within 24 hours, as reported by Crain’s Detroit Business.

Although Dan Campbell chose not to comment on the reasons behind selling the house, he made sure to express his admiration for Lions fans. “Our fans are unbelievable,” Campbell said last Friday. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be, and no other team I’d want to coach for.”
