QB Matthew Stafford: I’m not 25, but I definitely feel good

Matthew Stafford was the first Rams athlete to interact with the media as the Los Angeles Rams began their offseason program. Stafford reiterated that he feels healthy heading into the Rams’ offseason program, despite teasing that he is no longer 25 years old.

Stafford enters his 15th NFL season and third with the Rams. In 2022, the veteran quarterback was limited to nine games due to back and cerebral injuries. In 2021, he suffered from a variety of injuries during the team’s Super Bowl run.

Stafford stated that he has been tossing with colleagues prior to the offseason program and indicated that he will be throwing during organized team activities (OTAs).

Stafford did not toss much during the offseason program preceding the 2022 season due to an elbow injury he sustained in 2021. Sean McVay and the Rams will likely limit Stafford’s practice reps to keep him fit for the upcoming season, despite Stafford’s assurances about his health this offseason.

Aside from Cooper Kupp and Van Jefferson, it is unknown to whom Stafford will pass the football in 2023. On the first day of the Rams’ preseason program, Stafford was all joy.
